If you run into an obstacle ( a private property, a military zone, a pond ...) you have two choices :
- Either you can aim past that obstacle if you have a clear view of the other side. You can then go round easily.
Be careful : The mark you aim at should be reconizable to make sure you’ll find it once you get to the other side.
- Either you can’t aim at anything , you’ll need to use the method below.

To go round an obstacle successfully you should not touch at the settings of your compass.
When going from A to B remember the distance you have crossed so that you can report it from C to D.
To go from A to B put the pointer of the compass facing West, and to go from C to D put it facing East.
