What you will need
- A glass yoghurt or jam container
- Drawing paper and transfer paper that you will paint with the colour of your choice.
- A small candle (dish warmer)
- Scissors, glue, a cutter. (use with an adult only)
If necessary
- glass paint
- iron wire and a pair of pliers (use only with an adult)
How to make the candle jars

1. Cut a rectangle in the drawing paper that is as high as the flat, central part of the jar and as large as its perimeter.
2. Draw on the paper the patterns that you want to see glowing in the night. You can also draw a scenery.
Here’s an example.

3. Cut a second rectangle the same size in the transfer paper. Pick a colour that suits your patterns.
Put the rectangle on the jar with tape or glue.
You can also put different colours. If you want you can cut several bits of transfer paper of different colours and glue them right behind your patterns.
4. Glue the drawing paper on the jar.
All that’s left to do is to put a candle in the jar and enjoy. Put your candle jars on the table or around the campfire.

A few hints
You can choose to paint on the jar instead of using transfer paper. The light will be more shiny. Follow the instructions and wait for the paint to dry.
You can now build a small handle with the oiron wire. Follow the example below.
That way you can hang your candle jars on a branch or above the table.
