The materials you will need

For a 16’ ladder you will need :

• A rope 1/16" in diameter and 82’ long
• 20 to 21 wood logs about 1 to 1.5" in diameter and 10 to 12" long.

• The rungs will be set 11" apart. With the rope make a handle where the rug is supposed to be.
• Make a loop in the handle by rotating your wrist.
• Cross the two bits : put the middle bit behind the upper bit first, then in front. You’ve just made a slip knot.

Building the ladder

• Of course you should do the same knot on the opposite rope.

• Do not tighten the knot, give it the shape of two semi circumferences, above, put the braided cord, and opposite below, the knot.

• Pull the rung through the knot and tighten it respecting the position of the braided cord and the knot below.

  Be careful If the knot is placed over the braided cord it will go loose and the rung will fall. You can use this technique to fastly dismantle your ladder at the end of the camp and to store it for the next use.
